Representatives of the Gesundheit-Bad-Salzhausen association get information from Nidda’s mayor Thorsten Eberhard and would like to have a new branding for the health resort.
Bad Salzhausen (red). An information evening organized by the Gesundheit-Bad-Salzhausen Association took place in mid-September. Chairman Ulrich Vollmers also reported in a press release about a conversation with Mayor Thorsten Eberhard that took place the day before with Gunter Eckhard in the town hall in Nidda.
“We agreed that the old thermal baths as a structure fit very well into the entire townscape and the park in Salzhausen, which is protected as a monument,” reports Ulrich Vollmers. There was also agreement that Justus von Liebig‘s legacy should be used. Among the most frequently mentioned great Germans abroad, for example alongside Humboldt and Goethe, Justus von Liebig is mentioned again and again, especially because of his contributions to food security through his research on soil, chemistry and fertilization.
Examined the sources 200 years ago
Exactly 200 years ago – and there will be a celebration on November 15th in Salzhausen – Justus Liebig worked in Salzhausen, examined the springs, determined the healing effects and, above all, extracted the bromide salt, an essential component of the brine. Of all things, the element bromine, known as an important trace element in its salts, is found in the healing water in Salzhausen. »The spa doctors after Justus von Liebig already carried out extensive examinations and compiled statistics about the healing successes. So we agreed with the mayor that Bad Salzhausen, with its healing waters in six different springs, could contribute to a new direction towards health prevention and the well-known healing effects.” So it’s about a new idea about spa treatment.
In this context, the representatives of the association offered the mayor intensive cooperation. »We agreed that the use of the healing brine in a health spa would represent the central beacon effect for the revitalization of the bathing and health resort of Salzhausen.«
The mayor reported that they were intensively looking for alternative financing options for a thermal bath. The results of a Europe-wide tender are currently being viewed, as the overall task of a new health spa with corresponding therapy and bathing pools cannot be managed by the city of Nidda alone.
Furthermore, the association is of the opinion that, in addition to the development of the commercial area on the former Pfleiderer site, the city of Nidda could also consider turning its attention to a health center. The representatives of the association are also thinking about setting up clinics, for example a long Covid and an eye clinic. “Since the healing brine was used in particular for rheumatism and skin diseases, one should also think of a focus here, always keeping in mind the historical experiences,” writes Vollmers in the press release.
The recreational value in the beautiful surroundings of the city of Nidda in the entire Upper Hesse region, as now reflected in the State Garden Show, must also be taken into account here. The association representatives suggested using the thermal spa building ensemble temporarily for the garden show and designing the restaurant facilities in such a way that they could continue to be used in the new building or renovation of the health spa.
Club wants new branding
The club is also of the opinion that a new branding needs to be found for Bad Salzhausen. A guiding idea that possibly incorporates romantic motifs from the old spa company and the art location and also reflects the necessary change in health policy. Healing water plays a big role in this. “It is available in Salzhausen in a wide variety, and these treasures still bubble up from the earth intact for us.”
As the evening progressed, it was decided to hold the next meeting on October 22nd. This will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the community center in Bad Salzhausen.
