JAKARTA – Currently, many public facilities are provided wifi free. However, free wifi is not a good idea, especially for privacy issues.
Reported by Secpoint on Monday (11/30/2020), the attack wifi the most common public is ‘Man in the Middle (MitM)’. That is, a hacker who stops communication between two parties, then steals the victim’s personal information that the hacker could abuse for their benefit.
Not only that, the smart devices used are also vulnerable to viruses where one of the most common viruses is Chameleon. The virus is capable of making smartphone and computer devices quickly damaged.
Too often use of free wifi whose source is unknown can cause personal social media accounts to be hijacked, vulnerable to theft of personal data, to banking data that is prone to being hacked.
