Conversation reinforcement (or Conversation Boost in English) is a feature that lets your AirPods Pro’s microphone interact with your iPhone’s computing power. The ears recognize where a speaker’s sound comes from and will amplify this voice. For example, if you are in a busy restaurant and you do not understand the server, the AirPods up the voice instead of making everything louder. Don’t have AirPods Pro? Then the transparency mode can sometimes help to understand voices better, even if you don’t listen to music.
Conversation Boost (Conversation Boost) with AirPods Pro
Do you think you can use this function? It’s quite hidden in your phone’s settings, but our step-by-step plan will get you there in no time. We also explain a way to Control panel quick access to the feature once you’ve set it up.
Please note that for this function you need the AirPods Pro need with the latest software update. In addition, the iPhone have been updated to iOS 15 or newer.
Set up Conversation Boost before use
Before you can use the feature, you need to set it up. It is important that your AirPods Pro are connected to you during the process iPhone. The easiest way to do this is to simply put them in your ears. Also make sure you have the latest AirPods update have.
Follow these steps:
- Connect your AirPods Pro to your iPhone.
- Open Settings > Accessibility.
- Scroll down tap Audiovisual. Choose at the top Custom Headphones and enable it.
- If you AirPods Pro are connected, can be found at the bottom Transparantiemodus. Tap this and enable it.
- Switch now Call amplification in.
That was a mouthful. Fortunately, you only had to set this up once. Activating the function is much easier. You do this via the Control Panel, as we explain below.

Using Call Boost from the Control Panel
Activating the hearing aid is easy. You’ll need to do one more thing through the Settings app, which is add the Hear button to your Control Center. Follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on Control panel and tap the plus sign next to To belong.
Among other things, the Hear button is for Listen live, a feature where your iPhone microphone transmits the sound to you AirPods. Once you’ve added the button, follow these steps to use call amplification:
- Open it Control panel. Read our tip to see how that works.
- put you AirPods Pro in transparantiemodus. Read our tip to see how that works.
- Tap the Hear button, identified by the earpiece.
- Scroll down and tap Call amplification to enable it.
The feature will turn off when you switch back to noise reduction. So it only works in transparency mode. If you want to disable the whole feature, you can follow the same steps to do that.
