JAKARTA – Apple plans to replace the iPhone Lightning Port with a USB Type-C connector. Forbes said it would make the price of used iPhones will fall freely.
Apple’s plan to replace the Lightning Port with a USB Type-C connector is surprising. Because the Lightning Port feature, which was first introduced on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 in September 2012, is a very special feature.
Not only does it have a unique function, the Lightning Port is also a differentiator between iPhone owners and Android phones. It’s just that all of that will soon change because Apple is actually planning to replace the Lightning Port with a USB Type-C connector. Just like in the latest Android phones.
Forbes said the decision came because Apple had to comply with regulations passed by the European Union recently. In that decision the European Union requires all technology manufacturers to equip their electronic communication devices with USB Type-C connectors.

The regulation itself will be effective in early 2023. This means that all companies must comply with the provisions if they still want to sell in Europe.
“Apple seeks to annul that plan by saying the connector equation will actually slow down the introduction of useful innovations in charging standards, including those related to safety and energy efficiency,” wrote Forbes.
It’s just that the attempt actually hit the wall. The European Union remains on the decision that all new phones sold in 2023 must be equipped with a USB Type-C connector.
