Nutrigalletas. In order to help reduce malnutrition rates in the country, students from the San Ignacio de Loyola University will prepare at home a thousand cookies fortified with kiwicha and oats that will be donated to common canteens and pots in Chorrillos and Pachacamac.
This solidarity action is carried out in coordination with Cáritas Lima and TECHO within the framework of World Food Day, which is celebrated on October 16 of each year.
As is known, through the #UniversalPlate global campaign that day it is expected to distribute a million meals among the most needy people in different countries.
In the case of Peru, the students and teachers of the USIL School of Hotel Administration, Tourism and Gastronomy have organized to prepare a thousand highly nutritious cookies, fortified with our superfoods.
The participants of this solidarity action will receive a master class from chef Eliana Peña, a graduate of the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management career at the Institut Paul Bocuse, who will teach the preparation of cookies step by step.
Later, the cookies will be collected at the university on October 14 and 15, with the coordinators of the campaign they will be taken to the dining rooms and common pots in Chorrillos and Pachacamac.
Sandra Zubieta, dean of the Faculty of Hotel Administration, Tourism and Gastronomy of the USIL, highlighted that the university for 25 years has carried out various actions to support the vulnerable population of the country.
According to the College of Nutritionists of Peru, there is almost a 70% excess of people who are overweight and obese, which opens the way to various comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, etc. In addition, there are problems of chronic malnutrition and anemia in children under 5 years of age. Therefore, the importance of providing quality nutritional education.
