Ushuaia Volunteer Firefighters were trained in the safe use of chainsaws

The training was carried out in the Almanza area, promoted by the Environment Secretariat and carried out by the Provincial Fire Management Unit.

USHUAIA.- Eleven firefighters from the different barracks of this city participated this weekend in a training called “Safe use and maintenance of chainsaws” within the framework of the Conservation Plan called “Prevention of Forest Fires in Interface areas of the Coast of the Beagle Channel between Almanza and Punta Parana”.

It is promoted by the Provincial Environment Secretariat and carried out by the Provincial Fire Management Unit, and this time it was issued in the vicinity of Almanza.

The Provincial Academy of the Federation of Volunteer Firefighters of the province was in charge of coordinating with the Ushuaia barracks this workshop that lasted two days and where issues related to the use of chainsaws and their maintenance were addressed.

The participants learned to recognize the parts of the chainsaw, its accessories and the PPE and to identify the motor group, cutting group and accessories such as Cutting Equipment, whose safe operation was also explained.

In addition, the concepts of Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance of the Cutting Equipment, Introduction to the evaluation of situations and the choice of Cutting Techniques according to what was proposed were incorporated.

It is worth highlighting the commitment of the firefighters who participated and the importance of sharing these meetings in a federal manner, unifying criteria and establishing bonds of brotherhood and camaraderie among the volunteer firefighters system of the province.
