Used imported vehicles: Age raised to 10 years Used imported vehicles: Age raised to 10 years

Libreville, Friday December 29, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – This government decision aims to link Gabon to the rest of the Central Africa sub-region.

At the end of the Council of Ministers held yesterday under the presidency of the Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, it was decided that the age of imported second-hand vehicles will now increase from 8 to 10 years in the Republic Gabonese. This decision was taken with the aim of aligning the country in this area with the rest of the Central African sub-region.

We remember that in 2014, the ban on the importation of used vehicles was decided by the Gabonese authorities for vehicles whose age is between 3 and over. In 2016, this measure will see a reduction for vehicles aged 5, 6 years and over. Imported category A, B and D automobiles must be 5 years old after their first entry into circulation abroad. Those in categories C and E must be at most 6 years old after their first entry into circulation before entering Gabon.
