According to the chief operating officer of AAA Auto, Petr Vaněček, during this year large retailers had to react to the consumer behavior of customers who ran into a certain price limit, beyond which they were no longer willing to go. Conversely, the price has gone up at dealerships that generally offer used cars that are around four years younger.
“This is, of course, connected to the rising prices of new cars and their continuing shortage. Small dealers and private individuals are also trying to take advantage of this trend. However, they usually overestimate the offer price and the car ends up being sold cheaper,” added Vaněček.
The average age of used cars offered on the Czech market is between 12 and 14 years and the odometer reading is close to 200,000 km. The number of used cars offered increased by 5% year-on-year in November to 101,208. The most frequently offered model in November was the Škoda Octavia with an average price of 180,500 SEK and an age of 9.8 years.
