The current generation Audi A6 is still an expensive used car, but it reveals a lot about current trends. Inside, the display itself, half-million technology on the nose and at least one microhybrid under the hood. Too bad the tech rush gets so much attention from the manufacturer that it forgets a bit about the highest quality.
If we are a Audi A4 “B9” being the smallest model of the MLB Evo platform, they have exaggeratedly said that it is conceptually closer to the director’s A8 than the Passat or the Superb, so in the case of the current generation A6 “C8” (officially 4A), this is true without exaggeration. Of course, the engines start a floor lower, with two liters, which can be combined with the front wheels or a cheaper version of an all-wheel drive. This is the one that connects the rear axle only when needed and is commercially called Quattro Ultra. The classic quattro permanent can be found here with up to six-cylinder diesel, with the exception of the 45 TDI version (180 kW) – for a more complete overview, we refer to the technology in short table from the very beginning.
In terms of ride comfort and optional equipment, the A6 can truly be described as downsized A8. You can almost confuse the interior as well. You’ll never find a manual gear lever inside, and the heating is now controlled by a sleek glass tablet that “snaps” under your finger like a button – it’s called haptic binding. The accelerator pedal can also stomp your foot if the cameras catch the village start or speed limit and you drive faster. In short, it looks like a sophisticated modern car appropriate for its price.
Launch it!
Unfortunately the bridge, which looks like a spaceship, crawls like tavria after three years. Especially when the inside gets a little warm. Most of the grating evil is caused by the top trim of the center panel, on which the services attach with felt tape like on a conveyor belt. But over time it can connect anywhere, even the decorative bezels of the virtual cockpit. Pieces sold as new here are usually already cured from the worst. For the Czech customer, Audi is above all a means of self-presentation – that’s why big engines, big equipment, extra long warranties and armpits should be denounced and resolved immediately. By contrast, in Germany, where the A6 with two-liter diesel is routinely heralded as a corporate “octave”, hardly anyone cares. And most of the used cars currently offered come from the German fleet.
