IDXChannel – Covid-19 is one of the most feared diseases in society today. This disease can spread quickly, so special treatment is needed to prevent its transmission in the community. One of them is when washing clothes for people who are positive for Covid-19.
It is undeniable, the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be transmitted through a number of objects, one of which is clothing. Therefore, there are certain tips and ways to avoid the risk of transmission when washing them. Summarizing from the official Instagram page of the Covid-19 Task Force for Behavior Change @satgaschangebehavior, Monday (16/8/2021), here are the tips.
1. Wash clothes, towels, and bed linens of people who are positive for Covid-19 separately from others.
2. Use a mask and heavy duty gloves, before handling the laundry.
3.Put dirty laundry in a leak-proof container, such as a laundry bag or bucket. Make sure they are labeled to make it easier to separate them.
4. Scrape the remains of feces such as feces and vomit using a strong object, throw it into the toilet (if the bathroom is separate, it is recommended to do it in the patient’s toilet). Next, put the laundry in the container.
5. Never lean dirty laundry on the body when carrying it.
6. How to wash dirty clothes:
Soak laundry with hot water and detergent.
Use a stick to stir, and take care that the water does not splash out. If hot water is not available, soak the laundry in 0.05% chlorine for about 30 minutes.
Rinse with clean water and let it dry in the sun.
Don’t forget to wash your hands after you finish washing clothes. (NDA)
