The upcoming USB Power Delivery standard in version 2.1 can power devices up to 240 W. The original USB standard offers devices powered by 5 V and 500 mA. USB Power Delivery allows the device to negotiate a voltage increase of up to 20 V and draw up to 5 A. It is currently possible to transmit up to 100 W via USB-C.
The new generation, marked as 2.1, raises the voltage up to 48 V, the current remains at 5 A. The transmitted power will increase up to 240 W. The novelty, of course, requires new sources, but also higher quality cables that must meet the EPR (Extended Power Range) standard. Today’s laptops often offer the option of charging via USB-C, the new version allows you to power even the most powerful gaming machines.
