USAP hopefuls: Bousquet has everything to gain

Exploding this season in the ranks of the USAP Espoirs, the 3rd line approaches these final phases in a conquering way. First round Sunday against Castres.

Corentin Bousquet is currently living through pivotal weeks. Imagine.

At the height of his 19 years, the Catalan flanker is in the midst of his exams, to try to obtain his BTS MCO, the final oral of which will take place on Monday, the day after… USAP – Castres Olympique, quarter of final of the championship of France that “Coco” will dispute with his companions of combat! “We will have to be serious after the match whatever happens”, laughs the child of Estagel, who intends to achieve full board for his end-of-season goals. “I try to put a minimum of pressure on myself, because I hope to get my diploma at the end of the year”. But also, and this is his second goal at the approach of the summer period, to achieve high-flying final phases, under this “blood and gold” crest that he cherishes so much. “We still have a bitter taste vis-à-vis last year, my worst memory certainly (Editor’s note the Usapistes had lost for the title against Stade Toulousain, 22-29). So even though I didn’t take part in a single match last year, we hope to go as far as possible.” And count on the big brother of Gauthier not to save on the meadow.

Because this rugby so dear to his heart, he supports it with passion like a skin of love, since he was a toddler.

The XIII over the shoulder

Driven by Luc, a fan of the leather oval, “He took me into the locker room with him”the fan of Richie McCaw, Thierry Dusautoir or even Jean-Pierre Rives, “legends in my position, I watched the matches with my father when I was little. They are the ones who inspired me”pushes the gates of the ESCBAC when he is only 4 years old. “I stayed there until Minimes, before leaving to do detections at USAP with my two friends Théo Forner and Alex Perez, with whom we are still”. Climbing the ranks according to this passion, the supporter of the USAP and… of the Catalans Dragons, “my father did XIII, and I did in college. So it stayed (laughs)”, wants to be ambitious for the future. And aspires to realize his dream: familiarity with the professional world, if possible in this divine setting that is Aimé-Giral. “My goal, like everyone else, is to make it my job. I want to go as far as possible, and then see if the USAP offers me something. But for the moment, what I want is “is to go as far as possible with the team. I have never played a match in the final stages with the Espoirs, so I can’t wait”. A first that Corentin Bousquet hopes will be successful. To be able to continue dreaming of a crazy end of the year…
