Ruthie Shuster celebrates her 100th birthday on March 3rd – and yet she still works in a McDonalds in Pittsburgh (US state Pennsylvania), the news channel “ABCNews” reports on the program “Good Morning America“.
Despite her age, the sprightly widow sees no reason whatsoever to stop working. She has been employed in the branch for almost half a century.

Guests visit branch only because of her
For her, 100 is “just a number“. “I was widowed when I was 50, and I’ve always, always, always worked since then. I like to work“, She said. Another motivation is all too clear for Shuster: “I’m getting paid. I pay my bills and that’s good. I never had a lot of money, but I always had enough. You can not change it.“
Locally she is even a kind of celebrity. She would receive hundreds of postcards every year, especially on her birthday. For this reason, the branch is said to have set up a post box only for the 100-year-old.
Even before the corona pandemic, Shuster went dancing four times a week. After all, she can provide a little compensation every Friday – then she sing and dance in front of around 30 guests and give them a smile.
