USA vs. Brazil women’s soccer finals in Olympic history | Olympic Games

USA y Brazil will play this Saturday the final of the women’s soccer tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Gamesa definition that is already the most repeated in the history of the jousts.

The Americans are coming off a near-perfect campaign, taking three points in the group stage thanks to victories over Germany, Australia and Zambia. In the quarterfinals, Emma Hayes’ team eliminated Japan and in the semis they beat Germany.

Brazil, for its part, did not have the best group stage and finished third, but by being the second best third-placed team it qualified for the quarter-finals where it surprised everyone by defeating the host France, one of the favourites for the gold medal.

The Canarinha then surprised everyone again and eliminated the top contender for gold in the semi-finals, the Spanish national team. The South Americans ended up winning the match 4-2.

Now, Brazil faces the United States again in a women’s final at the Olympic Games. The first time they played for gold was in Athens 2004a match that ended 2-1. Lindsay Tarpley and Abby Wambach scored for the United States while Pretinha scored for the Brazilians.

The last time both teams played the final was in Beijing 2008a duel that the Americans ended up winning by the minimum difference thanks to a goal from Carli Lloyd.

It is worth noting that the United States is the team with the most gold medals in women’s soccer with four, while Brazil has not been able to win the top medal in this discipline and its best result was two silver medals (2004 and 2008).
