THE Usha Vancehis Indian-born wife Jay Dee Vancehis candidate for vice president Donald Trump, she is completely different from the rest of the women of the “trambosphere”. Vance — who was born in San Diego and studied law at Yale, where she met her future husband, and at Cambridge on a scholarship — doesn’t have much experience in public appearances like the women of the “trambosphere.” The American press is betting on whether she will soon change her style to make it similar to that of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) women.
“If she steps into the role of US second lady candidate, will her style change? Will she arrive with big earrings on her ears and false eyelashes on her eyes?’ asked the New York Times. At the Republican convention in Milwaukee last week, however, she “arrived as herself,” which “is a statement in itself.”
A lawyer by profession, specializing in corporate law, Vance worked at a prestigious San Francisco law firm and moved in left-wing circles when she signed up with the Democrats in 2014. Interestingly, this particular law firm is considered “radically progressive” – an article in “The American Lawyer” describes it as “cool” and “woke” while her husband has taken issue with the “woke culture” (for example, in the Senate where he has been serving since 2023, representing Ohio, Jay Dee delayed appointing State Department ambassadors by sending them a questionnaire aimed at clarifying whether he was woke or not).
The resignation that became fodder for comments
Usha resigned from her high-paying position at the San Francisco law firm shortly after it was announced that JD would be Trump’s running mate. This has given rise to comments that since the makeover of her professional life has already been set in motion, it won’t be long before a makeover of her appearance follows.
