WASHINGTON, Dec. 2 (Reuters) – Unemployment claims rose in the United States during the week to Nov. 27, to 222,000 from 194,000 (revised) the previous week, the Labor Department said Thursday.
Economists expected an average of 240,000 jobless claims.
Registrations for the week to November 20 have been revised down from an initial estimate of 199,000.
The four-week moving average stands at 238,750 compared to 251,000 (revised) the week before.
The number of people receiving regular benefits amounted to 1.956 million during the week to November 20 (last week for which these figures are available) against 2.063 million the previous week.
