At least two people have died after a small plane crashed shortly after takeoff from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport bound for Ohio, authorities have confirmed.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has indicated that the aircraft, a single engine and with two occupants on board, was heading to the Cuyahoga airport, in Richmond Heights, when the pilot reported low fuel pressure and problems in the motor.
Sources cited by the US television network NBC have indicated that local authorities have found the remains of the plane in a wooded area near the Westchester airport, in the state of New York.
At the moment the specific causes of the accident are unknown, although the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Office (NTSB) will open an investigation to try to clarify what happened.
