MADRID, 7 (EUROPA PRESS)

The technology company Twitter, owner of the social network of the same name, has reached an agreement with the marketing software company AppLovin to sell MoPub, its advertising division for mobile applications, for 1,050 million dollars (908 million euros) in cash, as announced this Thursday in a statement.

Twitter has stressed that this sale will allow it to “accelerate” the development of its own revenue products to enhance growth in “key areas”.

“This transaction increases our focus and demonstrates confidence in our revenue product roadmap, accelerating our ability to invest in key products that position Twitter for long-term growth,” said the CEO of the social network, Jack Dorsey.

In the whole of 2020, MoPub achieved revenues of 188 million dollars (162.6 million euros). The impact of the sale on the accounts will be largely offset because the company will record a negative impact of $ 809.5 million (€ 700.1 million) on its third quarter results. This charge comes from its agreement to close a court case with several of its investors for the way in which it communicated its performance.
