As part of the action “Watch me… New York», launched on July 31, the flag of La Chaux-de-Fonds was hoisted on the New York island of Rat Island.

After the statue of William Tell, it is therefore the turn of the banner with the hive and its seven bees to overlook the Big Apple. Made by the Zurich artist Gerry Hofstetter, it will remain in place for several years.

As a reminder, the Zurich resident wants, with this installation, to highlight the links between Switzerland and the United States, including many with La Chaux-De-Fonds. The latter is notably the birthplace of Louis Chevrolet, who has become the car manufacturer that we know there, or Blaise Cendrars, author of “L’Or”. Episode 3 of “Watch me… New Yorkshould see a Swiss personality visit the islet officially renamed “1291, Wilhelm Tell Square”.
