A couple from the US state of Michigan, who have 14 sons, almost 30 years after the birth of their first son, welcomed their first daughter into the world, the AP agency reported on Friday (November 6).

Kateri Schwandt, 45, gave birth to Maggie Jayne on Thursday in Grand Rapids. Jay Schwandt, also 45, said he and his wife “are very happy and very excited that Maggie Jayne has joined the family.”
“This year was memorable for many reasons, but Maggie is the most wonderful gift we could imagine,” he said after the baby was born.
The couple’s eldest son, Tyler, 28, said his parents thought they would never have a daughter. He added that there is probably nothing pink in their Lakeview home. “I don’t even know if my mom has any pink clothes,” Tyler said.
The Schwandt family has had numerous local and national media coverage before. Parents of 14 boys and one girl started dating in high school. They got married in 1993, before starting their studies, and by the time they graduated, they had three sons.
