ADP announces 568,000 new private jobs in September. The job market is regaining strength as COVID-19 contaminations decline.

Private job creation in the United States rose sharply in September, almost doubling from August, and is much stronger than expected, a sign that the job market is picking up strength as COVID-contaminations. 19 decrease.
In September, 568,000 private jobs were created, according to the monthly survey by the business services firm ADP published on Wednesday.
Job creations in August, which had disappointed, are ultimately even less strong than initially announced. They have been revised downwards to 340,000 instead of 374,000.
In September, the leisure and hotel sector remained the main creator of jobs, with 226,000 jobs created, “but hiring remains heavily penalized by the trajectory of the pandemic, in particular for small businesses”, said Nela Richardson, chief economist of ADP, in the press release.
Almost two-thirds of these new jobs, in fact, were created by companies with more than 1,000 employees.
The data was collected by ADP at the beginning of the month, during the week of September 12, that is to say just after the peak of COVID-19 contaminations linked to the Delta variant, which have been declining since the beginning of September. .
Thus “the current bottlenecks in terms of hiring should subside as the health conditions linked to the variant (Delta) continue to improve, paving the way for solid job creation in the months to come. come, ”notes Nela Richardson.
Job creation in the private sector is seen as a first indication, more or less reliable, of the employment and unemployment figures, which will be published on Friday.
About twice as many job creations, public and private sectors combined, are expected, analysts expecting 450,000 job creations. The unemployment rate is expected to fall by 0.1 point to 5.1%.
Additional unemployment benefits, which had been paid since the start of the pandemic, expired in early September. The long-term unemployed, as well as the self-employed, among others, are no longer entitled to it, forcing them to pay less attention to the jobs sought.
All the more so since school has now resumed, after a year and a half of closure or irregular opening, giving many women the opportunity to re-enter the labor market.
