DETROIT – Thirteen people – including seven members of the Wolverine Watchmen armed militia – were arrested for a plot involving the kidnapping of the Democratic Governor of Michigan. Gretchen Whitmer, in his holiday home. The group had planned an attack on the state capitol of the state capital, Lansing. The plan was thwarted by the FBI shortly before four of those arrested met to “pay for explosives and exchange technical equipment”.

One of those arrested, the FBI reports, accused Whitmer of having “uncontrolled power”. The plot involved the involvement of 200 men and a trial of Whitmer for treason. “We can all disagree on politics, but these differences should never translate into violence,” he says Matthew Schneider, the District Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.
According to court documents, the feds were aware of the plan from informants and undercover agents, and there does not appear to be an imminent danger to the security of Democratic Whitmer.
