An American Airlines plane was on flight 1775 from Los Angeles to Washington DC when a passenger tried to open the cockpit door. Although he failed, he then tampered with the outer door of the plane, US media reports. This would have had fatal consequences due to the flight altitude
To stop the troublemaker, the cabin crew grabbed the man. One finally took a coffee pot to help and hit the passenger with it, calming him down.
Fortunately, the plane was only a few miles from the airport in Kansas City at the time and was able to make an emergency landing there. There, the security staff was already waiting for the angry passenger and arrested him.
