The pace of growth in manufacturing activity in the New York area slowed somewhat in November after a surprise rebound the month before, according to the Empire State monthly index released on Friday.

This index compiled by the New York Fed fell 1.1 points to 2.9 points. Anything above zero marks an improvement.

Inventories and deliveries fell by 5.6 points to -6.2 and 4.2 points to 13 points respectively.

The indices reflecting prices paid as invoiced fell by 2.6 points and 0.1 points respectively.

The optimism of industrialists on activity over the six-month horizon edged up to 19.4 (+2.3).
