Endowed with 2 million dollars, the Pegasus World Cup (Gr.1 – 1800 m) at Gulfstream Park in Florida, promised a duel between the defending champion Knicks Go, also winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic in the fall and who was racing his last race here, and the new star Life is Good, building on his success in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. Coached by Todd Pletcher, who picked him up from Bob Baffert last spring after he twice beat Medina Spirit (future Kentucky Derby winner), Life is Good came out on top from start to finish, leading with a 10 lengths ahead under the saddle of Irad Ortiz Jr. Knicks Go finished 2nd ahead of Stilleto Boy. At 4 years old, Life is Good is very impressive and is catching up with great strides for lost time, he who had missed the classic campaign in the spring of his 3 years. Jointly owned by China Horse Club and top stud Winstar Farm, Life if Good is a son of top-tier stallion Into Mischief, who stands at $250,000 at Spendthrift Farm. First foal out of a daughter of Bonnie Blue Flag (2nd Gr.1), he was acquired for $525,000 as a yearling at Keeneland. His entourage is considering participation in the Dubai World Cup.
