WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) – The US government has imposed sanctions on several financial supporters of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in Turkey. The US State Department announced on Thursday in Washington that five people of different nationalities who had provided financial and logistical aid for the terrorist group were affected. The United States continued to work closely with partners and allies such as Turkey to track down and shut down networks providing financial support to al Qaeda. The punitive measures will freeze the assets of those affected in the United States and prohibit business with them./jac/DP/men
