USA: Documents that “burn” Trump shortly before the election come to light –

The judge overseeing Donald Trump‘s 2020 election meddling criminal case released a trove of evidence gathered by special counsel Jack Smith on Friday 10/18 that “burned” the former president a “breath” before her presidential election. November 5th.

There are nearly 2,000 pages of documents, which Trump’s legal team tried to keep under wraps, that appear to be completely redacted.

According to international media, the redacted appendices filed in the case’s public file relate to Smith’s extensive deposition earlier this month, which laid out his fuller picture of the case against Trump and his belief that his actions around the 2020 election should not be protected by presidential immunity.

Specifically, it’s a tome filled with sealed pages, as well as tweets and other social media posts from Trump, his campaign and allies, including some posted during his supporters’ bloody invasion of the Capitol on Jan. 6 2021.

US District Judge Tanya Chatkan ordered them unsealed last week, and they were released a day after the judge rejected Trump’s bid to stop their publication. The tycoon argued that posting the documents now could affect the outcome of the election and asked them to remain sealed until election day.

“If the court withheld information to which the public had a right of access only because of the potential political consequences of its release, that withholding could itself constitute — or appear to be — election interference,” the court said. Chatkan.

Prosecutors have charged Trump with four felonies stemming from his actions after losing the 2020 election, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of justice. Trump still maintains his innocence.

It is recalled that in July the US Supreme Court ruled that Trump has “partial immunity” from criminal prosecution for actions during his presidency.

Writing the court’s opinion, Justice John Roberts said that “the nature of presidential power” entitles Trump to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for his official activities as president. The document stresses that the Justice Department should distinguish between Trump’s official and unofficial actions.
