WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 (Reuters) – Former US Attorney Kenneth Starr, known for leading the indictment against former President Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky case in 1998, has died at the age of 76, he announced. his family in a statement Tuesday.
Kenneth Starr died Tuesday in a hospital in Houston, Texas from complications after surgery.
He had achieved world notoriety when he was tasked with investigating, as special prosecutor, the relationship between Bill Clinton, then president of the United States, and Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern.
This investigation led to an impeachment procedure against Bill Clinton.
Kenneth Starr has repeatedly stated that no one, not even a US president, is above the law.
