April 21 (Reuters) – Chicago Federal Reserve Chairman Charles Evans announced on Thursday that he would retire early next year.
“It has been an honor to serve as Chicago Fed Chairman and member of the Monetary Policy Committee for the past 14 years,” he said in a statement.
Charles Evans began his career at the Chicago branch in 1991, making him the oldest of the federal institution’s current leaders and an influential voice in the US central bank.
The Chicago Fed said in the press release that it had hired Diversified Search Group to assist in its search for a new president. (Ann Saphir, French version Laetitia Volga, said by Jean Terzian)
