The sign outside a pizza restaurant in Ohio is now going viral, reports CBS News.
The pizza restaurant, Santino’s Pizzeria in the city of Columbus, is looking for new employees.
“Now Hiring: Non-stupid People”, reads the text on a large banner hung outside the restaurant.
Santino’s Pizzeria is therefore looking for new employees who are not stupid.
The pizza restaurant’s manager, Heather Stockton, says that the banner was hung with a good dash of humour, but…
Does not appear
There is also seriousness behind the message, says Stockton.
She says that she is tired of training new employees, who suddenly do not show up for work, or who are not interested in working when they are there.
– I had a student here who thought it was okay to bring a Nerf gun in here with another employee, she says.
Makes the net boil
– «Trashy»
The banner has been hanging outside the restaurant for a couple of months, but it’s only now – after the discussion started Reddit – that the reactions hail:
– Completely tone-deaf by the restaurant owners.
– This is proof that stupid people can run pizza restaurants.
– I support that they don’t hire stupid people, but I think it looks “trashy” and stupid with such a sign.
– It’s a stupid sign made by a stupid business owner who doesn’t know they’re stupid.
– It could have done something not stupid, and used its valuable billboard space to advertise its generous starting salary for new hires. But I’m assuming the starting salary is minimum wage, so good luck.
Bought a cucumber – received a shock message
– No work ethic
Jayden Dunigan’s parents run Santino’s Pizzeria, and agreed with restaurant manager Heather Stockton to local channel WSYX, according to Insider.
– Several who have been employed do not want to work. They have no work ethic, so that’s the meaning behind “Non-Stupid”, he explains.
Dunigan says the goal is to find employees who are reliable and show up on time.
– … and who don’t come to work in sandals, he says.
Warns parents: – Be careful
Reacts strongly
Dunigan claims that most of the town’s residents got a good laugh out of the banner, but that one of them reacted strongly.
He allegedly called in a fake order for ten pizzas, then called back and canceled the order – and scolded them.
The ten pizzas were given to a center for the homeless, the pizzeria says its Facebook page.
