WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) – The US real estate market was in strong shape in November. The number of newly started residential construction rose by 11.8 percent compared to the previous month, as the Department of Commerce announced in Washington on Thursday. That was significantly more than the 3.1 percent expected on average by analysts. However, at 3.1 percent, the decline in the previous month was higher than initially determined.
The number of building permits rose by 3.6 percent. Here analysts had only expected plus 0.5 percent. With an increase of 4.2 percent, the plus in the previous month was also higher than initially determined. The building permits run ahead of the start of construction./mis/eas
