MADRID, 15 Dec. (PRESS EUROPE) –
The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has approved the declaration of catastrophe in the state of Florida due to the passage of Hurricane ‘Nicole’, which began forming on November 7th.
In a statement released by the White House, the US president ordered the assistance of federal funds to complement state, tribal and local response efforts to address the emergency conditions caused by the storm.
With this statement, Biden directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) administration and the Department of Homeland Security to make federal funds available for those affected in Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Putnam, Saint Johns and Volusia counties.
It will also provide grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help people and business owners recover from the effects of the catastrophe.
Likewise, the federal funding will serve to mitigate possible statewide risks in the event of impending hurricanes, as detailed by Biden in the letter.
