“Multiple” arrests, including a doctor, in the death of Matthew Perry, US media reports, while US network NBC reports one arrest, citing law enforcement officials.
The famous actor died last year of a ketamine overdose and authorities were investigating how he obtained the drug.
Perry, known for his roles in the TV series “Friends”, was found dead in his swimming pool last October at the age of 54, causing grief to his fans and colleagues.
An autopsy found the cause of his death to be “the acute effects of ketamine,” a controlled drug the addict was believed to be taking as part of supervised treatment.
While only small amounts were found in his stomach, a high level was detected in his blood.
How the actor – who reportedly hadn’t had an injection for several days – obtained the drug was the subject of an investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
News website TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, reported that “at least one doctor has been arrested, along with several agents who helped organize and deliver ketamine to Perry.”
Police also seized computers, phones and other electronic equipment and had text messages with Perry discussing the drug and what he would pay for it, according to TMZ.
“In their investigation, authorities found other celebrities involved in the Hollywood drug scene,” the agency said, without elaborating.
