WASHINGTON, March 22 (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden and his European allies will apply additional sanctions against Russia this week and tighten existing measures, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday. , ahead of Joe Biden’s trip to Brussels.
Joe Biden is due to leave Washington on Wednesday for Brussels, where he will take part in meetings with NATO, the G7 and with European leaders. He will then travel to Poland, a neighboring country of Ukraine, to show his support.
Speaking to journalists, Jake Sullivan said that the American president would discuss with his allies the long-term adjustments to be made to NATO’s military system.
The West will also announce joint measures to strengthen Europe’s energy security and reduce its dependence on Russian gas, added the White House adviser.
