USA – Abortion Rights Protests – Politics

Tens of thousands of people have gathered in the US capital Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities to demonstrate for abortion rights. In Washington, several thousand people gathered on the National Mall on Saturday afternoon (local time) and then ran to the Supreme Court. An expected decision by the Supreme Court is likely to result in massive restrictions on abortion rights with serious consequences for women. Should there be no nationwide law on abortion in the future, responsibility would lie with the states, and many conservatively governed states want to largely ban abortion. A speaker in Washington announced a “summer of anger”. “Abortion is health care” or “My body, my decision” read the protesters’ signs.
