(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, 03 OCTOBER – “Whoever did things like the assault on the Capitol can never again be considered worthy of power. We must defeat Trump on November 5”: this is what former Republican MP Liz Cheney opened in Wisconsin on Kamala Harris’ rally, which he endorsed. “I have never voted for a Democrat, but this year I will proudly vote for Kamala Harris: I know she will be able to inspire all Americans and unite this nation,” Cheney said to applause and chants from the crowd (“Thank you Liz”). “As we meet here today, our republic faces an unprecedented threat,” he warned. “Every president in the history of the United States has fulfilled his duty to oversee the peaceful transition of power. Every president except Donald Trump,” chanted Cheney, one of ten Republican lawmakers to vote to impeach the then-president over the assault at the Capitol. “So help us to straighten the path of democracy”, he continued, recalling that “the most conservative of conservative values is loyalty to our constitution”. Cheney and Harris spoke behind a panel of bulletproof glass. (HANDLE).
