WASHINGTON, December 26 (Reuters) – US airlines on Sunday canceled a thousand flights for the third day in a row as scores of pilots and crew were affected by the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 .
The airlines canceled 1,001 domestic and international flights on Sunday, a figure slightly higher than Christmas Day (997) and New Year’s (nearly 700) cancellations, according to data from the flight tracking site FlightAware.com.
