US wins case over arrest of Russian superyacht in Fiji

The United States won a lawsuit to seize a Russian superyacht in Fiji, took control of the $325 million vessel within an hour and pulled it out of the South Pacific.

The court’s decision was a significant victory for the US, as Washington regularly faces obstacles in its efforts to seize the assets of Russian oligarchs around the world.

The US took the ship out of Fiji within an hour to ensure the yacht was not involved in any further lawsuits. Representatives of the US Executive Service changed the flag on the yacht and took her to New Zealand.

The arrested yacht “Amadea” is associated with the Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov. The 106m yacht features a live lobster aquarium, a hand-painted piano, a swimming pool and a large helipad.
