But the health authorities have now decided to scrap that advertising campaign. At the Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas, they are “extremely disappointed.” “This was our greatest hope for Christmas 2020 and now it looks like it won’t work out,” said Ric Erwin chairman at the Wall Street Journal.
The Santa Claus vaccination plan is said to have been set up by Michael Caputo, a former assistant secretary in the health department. “If you and your colleagues are not essential workers, then I don’t know who it is,” the man is said to have said during a telephone conversation with Erwin.
But they were apparently unaware of the plan at the Health Department. That while Erwin told the Wall Street Journal that the plan would be finalized by mid-September and that 100 Santas had already volunteered.
