The unemployment rate in America decreased slightly in April, to 3.4%. compared to 3.5% in Marchaccording to a US Bureau of Labor Statistics report released on Friday.
The US economy added new jobs – non-farm payrolls covered by the index – by 253,000 jobs in April, up from 236,000 jobs in March.
The new jobs came in the entertainment and hospitality sectors, professional and commercial services, health care, and social assistance.
The number of unemployed persons in the United States decreased during the month of April to 5.66 million unemployed, compared to 5.84 million unemployed in March.
