US troop headquarters in Iraq increased as Iran prepares to attack Israel

“Several rockets fell inside the base, and another rocket landed in a nearby village without causing any damage,” the source said.

A leader in a pro-Iranian armed group said AFP that at least “two rockets were aimed” at the Iraqi base. However, the leader did not say who carried out the attack.

Named Reutersthree US officials said at least some Uncle Sam employees were injured in the attack.

The US military has about 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria.

This latest rocket attack comes as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to escalate following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Iran and Hamas believe the attack was launched by Israel, so both want to launch a more violent response.

The United States believes that Iran will attack Israel today within 24 to 48 hours in retaliation for the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed this accusation to the Group of 7 countries (G7) through a video conference, Sunday (4/8).

“Attacks by Iran and Hezbollah against Israel could begin as early as Monday [5/8]”, said the report Axiosciting three sources.

In the video of the conference, according to sources, Blinken said that the US believed that an attack from Iran was inevitable after the killing of top Hezbollah commanders in Beirut and Haniyeh in Tehran.

However, Blinken is not sure what type and scale of attack Iran will carry out.

Blinken then said they need to put diplomatic pressure on Iran and limit the impact of an attack to a minimum.
