The US Treasury Department announced that introduced sanctions on 17 Liberian-flagged bulk carriers and oil tankers for carrying Russian oil in violation of price ceilings.
Also subject to sanctions was the UAE shipping company Hennesea Holdings, which, according to the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, owns the vessels subject to restrictions.
“Today’s actions demonstrate once again that anyone who violates the established price limit [на российскую нефть], will face the consequences. No one should doubt our coalition’s resolve to stop those who help the Kremlin,” said US Deputy Treasury Secretary Adewale Adeyemo.
The G7 countries and the European Union introduced a price ceiling on Russian oil in 2022 – companies were prohibited from transporting and insuring oil purchased from Russia for more than $60 per barrel. China and India, where Russia redirected about 90% of exports after introducing restrictions, did not join the decision of Western countries.
