US-trained soldiers and spies have been revealed to join ISIS to fight the Taliban

ACCEPTANCE – Taliban has long accused the United States (US) of funding the terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS). Now, the Taliban is indirectly right in that accusation as more and more US-trained Afghan soldiers and intelligence are joining ISIS to fight the Taliban.

This report was released by RT.com on Monday (1/11/2021). The US spends $88 billion to arm and train the Afghan military. Unfortunately, Afghan forces were crushed during the Taliban’s rapid conquest of the country in August.

Although the Taliban had promised amnesty to the military and intelligence personnel, stories of revenge for the defeat had circulated.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the “relatively small, but growing” number of former Afghan soldiers and spies are flocking to ISIS.

Currently, ISIS is the only group that opposes Taliban rule.

The Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) branch in Afghanistan, IS-K, is eagerly recruiting these US-trained soldiers and spies.
