TikTok said it will restore its service to US users following Donald Trump’s announcement of the executive order.
In a statement, TikTok said the video platform is coming back online after President-elect Donald Trump provided the necessary assurances to the company’s service providers, according to nbcnews.com.
“In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service,” it said in a post on X. “We thank President Trump for assuring our service providers that they will not face sanctions, providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and enabling over 7 million small businesses to prosper,” he continued.
“This is a strong stance in favor of the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that will keep TikTok in the United States,” the company added.

President-elect Donald Trump says he plans to issue an executive order that would give TikTok’s China-based parent company more time to find an approved buyer before the popular video-sharing platform faces a permanent US ban.
Trump announced the decision in a post on his Truth Social account on Sunday, as millions of TikTok users in the US woke up to find they no longer had access to the TikTok app or platform.
Google and Apple removed the app from their digital stores to comply with a federal law requiring them to do so if TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, did not sell its US business to an approved buyer by Sunday.
“I’m asking companies not to let TikTok stay dark!” Trump wrote. “I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the time before the law’s bans go into effect so we can make a deal to protect our national security. The decree will also confirm that there will be no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before my decree. Americans deserve to see our exciting inauguration on Monday, as well as other events and debates,” he said.
The law gives the sitting president the power to grant a 90-day extension if a viable sale is underway. Although investors have made some offers, ByteDance has previously said it will not sell. In his post on Sunday, Trump suggested that the US become a partner in a deal.
