US threatens China if it insists on helping Russia invade Ukraine

United States of America (AS) poses a threat to China if it persists in helping Russia smooth the invasion in Ukraine.

The statement was made before the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, met senior Chinese diplomat, Yang Jiechi, in Rome, Monday (14/3).

U.S. officials told Reuters it would drop heavy sanctions like Russia on the scale of trade if the country openly supported Russia. In addition, the US will also suspend technology expansion cooperation with China as well as economic sanctions.

The US Commerce Secretary, Gina Raimond, stressed that the government would revoke access to equipment and software for Chinese companies that they need for the production process if they insist on supplying their needs to Russia.

China is the largest trading partner in the European Union. China is also the largest supplier of US goods. Pressure on China could backfire on the US economy and Western countries.

Russia itself was previously called the US asking for help from China in smoothing the invasion of Ukraine.

Sullivan said China’s aid to Russia was of great concern to the United States.

“We are watching closely to see if China provides material and economic support to Russia. This is a concern for us,” Sullivan told journalists. CNNDana Bash.

“We are in constant communication with Beijing, we will not stand by and allow any country to ease Russia from economic sanctions,” Sullivan said.
