US Tanks to Train Ukrainian Troops, Not Sent to Participate in Hostilities

M1 Abrams tanks, which will arrive from the US in Germany over the next few weeks to train Ukrainian troops, will not then be sent to Ukraine to participate in hostilities.

Source: Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder, quoted by “Ukrinform”

Direct speech: “These tanks will only be used for training purposes. These are not the updated tanks that will later go to Ukraine.”

Details: Ryder expressed the hope that by the end of this year, individual M1 Abrams combat units would be transferred to Ukraine and the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on American tanks would be completed.

He noted that the United States is allocating training tanks not from army stocks, but from other storage sites, which will speed up the preparation and shipment of combat vehicles to Ukraine.

Ryder also said that Abrams tanks, which will be transferred for use at the front, will be equipped according to the specifics of military operations in Ukraine.

Recall: The head of the US Department of Defense, Lloyd Austin, announced on April 21 that the Ukrainian military would begin training in Germany on American M1 Abrams tanks in a few weeks.
