The experts of the Outbreak Management Team no longer meet every week to discuss the corona virus and the measures against it. That is no longer necessary, now that things are “continually going in the right direction” with the corona situation in the Netherlands, the outgoing Minister of Health De Jonge reports to the House of Representatives.
“In the current situation, the phasing out phase of the epidemic, frequent advice from the OMT is still needed, but no longer every week,” writes the outgoing minister. “The OMT is now being questioned about issues about the slightly longer term, the necessary preparation for the endemic phase, but also the necessary preparation for possible setbacks and a possible revival of the virus.”
De Jonge writes that it is “necessary that we are agile, and that the OMT is quickly available in the event of any setbacks”. Well-known experts of the OMT include RIVM director Jaap van Dissel, medical microbiologist Marc Bonten, IC doctor Diederik Gommers and virologist Marion Koopmans.
