A recent study involving tens of thousands of military veterans in the US indicates that COVID-19 vaccines pose a negligible risk of developing blood clots. This study provides more evidence for the safety of vaccines, which has already been established by the 9.23 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines that have been administered globally. Despite the fact that some anti-vaccine advocates have expressed concerns about the safety of vaccines, this study found that the risk of developing a venous thromboembolism (VTE) as a result of COVID-19 vaccination is minimal compared to the risk of developing VTE after being infected with SARS-CoV-2. The study accounted for a variety of potential VTE risk factors, including age, race, sex, and body mass index. Ultimately, the researchers concluded that getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is an important step in protecting oneself against the significant risk of VTE that is present among unvaccinated people. The study was published in the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science.
