US Stocks End Lower; Dow Jones Down by 0.71% at Close

At the end of trading in New York, it closed down by 0.71%, while it fell by about 0.32% and fell by about 0.20%.

Among the leading stocks today were Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:), whose value rose 1.92%, or 6.04 points, to reach 321.13 at the close. On the other hand, Apple (NASDAQ:) shares continued to rise by 0.98%, or 1.83 points, and closed at 187.68, while Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) shares increased by 0.84%, or 2.39 points, to 288.05 at the end of the session.

As for the weakest performance at the end of today’s trading, McDonald’s Company (NYSE:) shares closed down 3.73%, or 11.08 points, and traded at 285.97 levels at the close. 3M Group (NYSE:) shares declined by 2.35%, or 2.23 points, to a price of 92.64, while Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) shares closed down by 2.12%, or 0.48 points, to a price of 22.16.

On the other hand, the best performance in the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was recorded by Estée Lauder Company (NYSE:), which rose by 12.04% at a price of 150.27. Catalent Inc (NYSE:) also continued to rise at 9.74% and closed at levels 59.82, and ON Semiconductor (NASDAQ:) stock rose by 9.54% and ended its trading at 77.59.

Among the weakest performing stocks today, we mention Air Products & Chemicals Inc. (NYSE:), which fell by 15.54% and closed its session at 218.06, Match Group Inc. (NASDAQ:), which lost 5.24% to 35.46, and Archer. Daniels Midland Co (NYSE:), which fell by 4.88% to close at 52.97 in today’s session on the stock exchange.

On the other hand, the best performance in the Nasdaq index was recorded by Gorilla Technology Group Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose by 96.36% at a price of 1.09. 4D Molecular Therapeutics (NASDAQ:) also continued its rise at 84.62% and closed at levels 32.29, and MorphoSys AG ADR (NASDAQ:) stock rose about 56.01% and ended its trading at 17.27.

Among the weakest performing stocks today, we mention NanoString Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell by 78.02% and closed its session at a price of 0.10, DMK Pharmaceuticals Corp (NASDAQ:), which lost 56.71% at a price of 0.23, and Pineapple Holdings stock. Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell by 50.79% and closed at 0.22 in today’s session on the stock exchange.

The number of stocks that declined exceeded the number of stocks that closed higher in trading on the New York Stock Exchange, with 2,380 compared to 516, while 38 remained unchanged. As for the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2519 of the stocks declined and 957 strengthened their position, while 90 of the stocks maintained their value.

NanoString Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:) stock fell to an all-time record low, losing 78.02% or 0.37 points at a price of 0.10. 4D Molecular Therapeutics (NASDAQ:) stock rose to a 52-week high, adding 84.62%, or 14.80 points, to a price of 32.29. DMK Pharmaceuticals Corp (NASDAQ:) stock fell to its lowest record level ever, continuing to decline by 56.71%, or 0.29 points, at a price of 0.23. MorphoSys AG ADR (NASDAQ:) stock rose to a 52-week high, rising 56.01%, or 6.20 points, to a price of 17.27. Pineapple Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) stock fell to an all-time record low, falling 50.79%, or 0.23 points, at a price of 0.22.

Gold futures contracts for April delivery fell 0.64%, or 13.05, and closed at $2,040.65 per ounce. As for trading in other commodities, WTI crude oil futures contracts for March delivery rose 0.73%, or 0.53, and reached a price of $72.81 per barrel, while the April contract for Brent oil contracts recorded an increase of 0.91%, or 0.70 points, and closed at $78.03 per barrel.

The EUR/USD pair maintained stability at 0.41% and traded at 1.07 levels, while the USD/JPY pair continued to rise by 0.23% and reached 148.71 levels.

Dollar index contracts traded up by 0.54% at 104.34.
