US Stock Market Update: Dow Jones Rallies, Nasdaq Plummets, Netflix and Tesla Stocks Drop, Financial Sector Makes Progress, Johnson & Johnson Soars

Without direction major US stock indexes.

The Dow Jones rallied 0.47% to 35,225 points, while the S&P500 lost 0.68% to 4,535 points. Worst performance for the Nasdaq (-2.05% at 14,063 points).

Very bad day for Netflix (-8.41% to $437.42), following the release of Q2 2023 financials. The company finished the reporting period with revenue and earnings per share up; however, the turnover was lower than consensus of analysts.

Also there Tesla Quarterly (-9.74% to 262.9 dollars) did not excite traders.

Stocks from the financial sector, on the other hand, made progress. Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase gained 3.05% and 1.26%, respectively.

Johnson & Johnson up sharply (+6.09% to $168.4), after the release of financial data for the 2nd quarter of 2023. The company finished the period under review with revenues and earnings per share above the consensus of analysts.
